I revisited this post on 3/26 because I could see the copper when I scraped the wired while re-working my laser gun project. The observation was on the yellow wire. The red wire had a Cu tinge, as did the black and green wires. The blue and white did not. I scraped the white wire with my diagonal cutters and then cut the wire, but I still couldn't see any Cu. I did the same with the blue - no Cu. However, the red and green still have a definite Cu core!I will not downgrade the product because it works! I.e., wires solder fine and I have no issues with their conductivity. However; I do apologize to anyone needing a higher Cu content, for whatever reason, since I suspect it's not there. I.e., from my latest review, it seems there is less Cu than I expected, but not enough to change my mine in using it for any of my current projects.I needed solid 22AWG jumpers for my security alarm system but J.Tuffon posts below made me cautious, so I tested the wire as soon as I got it and it exceeded my expectations in terms of price, quality, and expedient delivery! I took the pictures to show how tinned wire can look like aluminum or oxidized zinc, depending on the lighting. One picture shows a very good solder joint before I cleaned the flux off. I measured the gauge with my calipers at 0.03-inch (22AWG=0.02540-inch) which is within my acceptable margin of error in measuring and allowance for some of the tinning. I also used my knife to scrape the tin off lead and you can tell there was in fact copper (well it looks like copper to me) underneath.I am not disputing anyone's observations. I am only stating what I experienced (over 50 years working with electronics) with my purchase. I checked it out because I have bought what looked like premium quality cables, but they had with no data line connects which I found quite appalling.
